NEET 2024 Exam Day Guidelines: What to Carry to the Exam Centre and What Not to Carry?
Hello future docs, as the exam nears, we know that the anxiety increases too. There is so much confusion, about the day of the exam too. What to take, what not to take. How does the process go? What should I wear? Will it go smoothly? Will I forget my admit card?
We have faced the same anxiety and so, we know that it is very important to read all the exam guidelines beforehand. It helps in reducing the anxiety and nervousness that you feel before the exam.
Here’s a list of all the items that you must carry to the centre and the ones that you must not carry to the centre for a smooth exam experience. But before that, let’s take an overview of the NEET exam.

What to carry to Exam Centre
Candidates must bring ONLY the following documents on the day of examination at the test centre. Candidates who will not bring these will not be allowed to sit in the examination:
- A printed copy of Admit Card downloaded from NTA website with a passport size photograph (the photo must be same as the one uploaded on the Application form while registration) pasted on it.
- One passport size photograph (same as uploaded on the Online Application Form) for pasting on the specific space in the Attendance Sheet at Centre during NEET (UG) – 2023 Examination.
- One Post Card Size (4”X6”) color photograph which has been taken against a white background. It should be pasted on the Proforma downloaded with the Admit Card.
- The proforma with Post Card size photograph shall be handed over to the Invigilator in the Examination Hall.
- Any one of the authorized photo IDs (must be original and valid) like PAN card/Driving License/Voter ID/Passport/Aadhaar Card /Ration Card/ Class 12 Admit Card with Photograph /any other valid photo ID issued by the Government.
- PwBD certificate issued by the Competent Authority, if you are claiming the relaxation under the PwBD category
- Water Bottles, Tea, coffee, cold drinks or snacks, etc. are not allowed to be taken by the candidates into the examination centre. But, if you are suffering from diabetes, you will be allowed to carry the eatables (with prior intimation) like sugar tablets/fruits (like banana/apple/orange) and transparent water bottles into the examination hall. But, you will not be allowed to carry packed foods like chocolate/ candy/sandwich, etc.
NEET 2024 Exam Day Guidelines: What Not to Carry?
NTA has also released a list of items that are banned inside the examination hall. Candidates will be frisked thoroughly to make sure that they are not carrying any of these items. There will also be a metal detector at the exam centre to make sure that there is no barred item with the aspirant.
These are the barred items:
- Stationery items such as test-based material (written/printed), papers, notes, Pencil box, pouches, geometry box, pen, scale/ruler, eraser, pendrive, log tables etc.
- Electronic devices such as calculators, cameras, health band, electronic pens, scanners, etc.
- Accessories such as bags, belts, caps, goggles, wallets, etc.
- Devices used for communication such as mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth, fitness bands, earphones, pager, etc.
- Any ornaments (both metallic/non-metallic) such as earrings, nose pins, piercings, etc.
- Eatables (packed or home-cooked), thermos, water bottle etc.
- Any other item which could be used for unfair means, by hiding communication devices like a microchip, camera, Bluetooth device, etc.
- The candidates wearing articles or objects of faith (customary/ cultural/ religious ) should report at the examination center atleast two hours before the last reporting time so that there is enough time for proper frisking without any inconvenience to the candidate.
- If upon screening, it is discovered that any candidate is actually carrying a suspected device within such an item of faith, he/ she may be asked not to take it into the examination hall.
No arrangement will be made at the Centres for keeping any articles/items belonging to the candidates.
