NEET exam guidelines- What is considered as Cheating or Unfair Means in NEET exam?
NEET is one of the most difficult exams in India. The competition for NEET Vs the number of seats available is so scary. We can totally understand if you are feeling overwhelmed or anxious. To make sure that you do not do something accidentally, that is counted as unfair means by the NTA, we have published this blog well in advance.
Go through this blog quickly and make sure that you do not do anything that might get you in trouble.

What is considered as Unfair Means in NEET exam?
Unfair means practice is an activity that allows a candidate to gain an unfair advantage over other candidates.
It includes the following points:
- Having any item which has been prohibited or can be used for unfair practices. This includes: stationery items, communication devices, accessories, eatables, ornaments, or any other material. Check all your pockets before entering the exam centre or try not to wear a pant with pockets at all.
- Using someone to write the examination (impersonation) or preparing material for copying. DO NOT try to take chits.
- Breaking examination rules or any direction issued by NTA about the conduct of the NEET (UG) – 2023 examination from time to time. So, follow every instruction and rule given in the admit card or said by the invigilator.
- Helping other candidates in malpractices, giving or asking for help: directly/ indirectly/ or just trying to do so. Don’t cheat and don’t let others cheat either.
- Writing questions or answers on any material other than the answer sheet given by the Centre Superintendent for writing answers. Use only the rough space for calculations and other rough work.
- Tearing of the Answer Sheet, any page of the test booklet, etc.
- Contacting or communicating or trying to do so with any person, other than the Examination Staff, during the examination time in the Examination Centre. If you have any questions at all, ask the invigilator.
- Taking away the answer sheet (Original OMR/Office Copy of OMR) out of the examination hall/room.
- Taking away the Admit Card out of the examination hall/room.
- Smuggling out of Question Paper or its part or smuggling out answer sheet or part thereof.
- Threatening any of the officials connected with the conduct of the examination or threatening any of the candidates.
- Using or attempting to use any other undesirable method or means in connection with the examination.
- Manipulation and fabrication of online documents viz. admit card, rank letter, self-declaration, etc.
- Forceful entry/exit in/from the Examination Centre/Hall.
- Use or attempted use of any electronic device after entering the Examination Centre;
- Pasting/uploading wrong/morphed photographs on the application form/admit card/proforma.
- Erasing or obliterating any information printed on the OMR Answer Sheet.
- Providing incorrect information and/or overwriting of the Roll No./ Test Booklet No. / own Name of the Candidate / Father’s Name / Mother’s Name / own Signature, on the OMR Answer Sheet.
Note: These are not the only points that ‘Unfair means’ is limited to. Any other suspicious behavior can also be considered as unfair means.
Remember that the NEET exam is a medical entrance exam. Any student who cheats and gets a seat will be a Healthcare worker someday. Healthcare is not a profession to be tampered with, it is about life and death. Be honest.
