NEET UG Cut Off 2024: Expected Cut Off and Qualifying Percentile
The NEET 2024 exam is finally done. When I gave my NEET exam in 2021, I rushed to see the cut offs as soon as I was done tallying my marks. I can understand the mix of anxiety and excitement that 2024 aspirants are going through right now. Given that the paper was of moderate difficulty level, with most of the questions taken directly from the NCERT, the ranks are expected to inflate.
Will this affect the cutoff and qualifying scores? Will it be difficult to get admission in MBBS courses? Let’s find out.

NEET Ug 2024 Tie Breaking Criteria
There has been a change in the usual tie breaking method for NEET. Up until last year, if two aspirants scored the same number of marks, their ranks were decided based on the following points.
- The student scoring higher in biology would be ranked higher.
- If biology scores are the same then the student scoring higher in chemistry was ranked higher.
- If the tie still remained, then the student having lesser number of negative markings was preferred.
- If both had similar negative markings then the older candidate was marked higher.
This would settle all debates on ranking and made for a complex yet just ranking system.
This year, the NTA has simplified this process.
The tie breaking criterias for NEET 2024 is as follows:
- The student scoring higher in biology would be ranked higher.
- If biology scores are the same then the student scoring higher in chemistry then physics was ranked higher.
- If tie still exists, then a computer automated random draw will be done for the ranking of the candidates. The NTA promises no human intervention in this process.
