MBBS Life: What’s waiting for you.
Hello future doctors! Sometimes it might feel like NEET prep has sucked out all the fun from your life. Studying 24/7, saying no to every plan, and staying at the study table throughout the day – it’s very tough, I know.
But I have good news. Once you crack NEET and step college, all the sacrifices will be rewarded in ways you might not expect.
So, let me give you a sneak peek into the MBBS dream life.
College Fests
During NEET prep, you probably had to skip school fests and all the fun events your friends went to. But MBBS is a different story.
Every medical college has its own annual festivals—and trust me, they’re EPIC. Whether it’s cultural fests, sports fests, or academic events, the organization and the actual event are both equally fun. During these days, you bond with your batchmates and make unforgettable memories.
For example: PULSE Fest at AIIMS Delhi, is one of the largest medical fests in India. Every med student can go and it is something that all of us look forward to. Concerts, DJ nights, talent shows, and mixers. A week of pure fun.
The New Friends You’ll Make
During NEET you will spend most of your time studying alone. There is no time to have friends. But college life comes with a lot of interesting people. In MBBS, you’ll meet people from different states and backgrounds.
Your classmates become like family. You go through the highs and lows of med school together. One day you are consoling your friend about a failure, the next day you are celebrating that exams are over. It is a rollercoaster.
Hostel Life and Its Adventures
The hostel is where half of your MBBS memories are made. From late-night discussions to sharing snacks, pulling pranks, and celebrating birthdays at midnight, hostel life will be one of the most memorable parts of your medical journey.
And trust me, making and eating Maggi at 2 AM is an experience every medical student cherishes.
A Little More Free Time (Surprising, Right?)
During NEET prep, free time is non-existent. If you are not studying then you are feeling guilty about it. Mental rest becomes impossible.
But in MBBS, while it’s still challenging, you’ll find a lot of time to explore your interests. Whether it’s going out for chai, watching your favorite series, or playing a sport, there’s always room for fun.
After exams, binge-watching movies or Netflix with your hostel mates is great time. In fact, some medical colleges have movie screenings.
Group Study Sessions (With Snacks, of Course)
NEET preparation is competitive and most people study alone. But in MBBS, group study sessions are a thing. You and your friends will come together to revise, help each other with difficult topics, and sometimes… just chat and snack more than study.
Group studies often turn into study breaks where you laugh, discuss the latest gossip, and then panic together when the exams are near.
Everything is a group experience, you do not feel alone anymore.
The Freedom to Explore a New City
MBBS is an adventure that involves sneaking out of the hostel on some days. Whether it’s exploring local street food, visiting famous places, or simply walking around, exploring is fun. Even if you opt for a college in your home city, during MBBS you’ll discover places you never knew about.
You’ll have vacations where you go on road trips and nearby amusement parks. You will also have the batch trip in second year, where you visit the mountains together.
The First Time You are Called “Doctor”
This one is a really special moment. The first time a patient refers to you as “doctor,” is almost always accidental. Since you’re not technically a doctor yet, you will have to correct them.
But you will still feel flutters in your heart. It will feel unreal. It will be the reminder that all your hard work has FINALLY paid off.
Dissection and Clinical Experience
Let me be honest, the dissection hall feels very scary at first. But in some time you will realize that it is one of the most unique experiences you’ll have in your life. It’s fascinating.
NEET prep is all about theory and textbooks. But in MBBS, you get to experience real-life medical situations.
During clinical postings, you will get to interact with patients, observe treatments and also surgeries. This is when you will actually understand what being a doctor is about.
The Satisfaction
All the sacrifices that you are making right now will feel like nothing when you walk into your first MBBS class room. The journey till that point will be extremely tough, no one can deny that. But your first white coat and stethoscope will make it all worthwhile.
The feeling of accomplishment that you will feel on your first day as a medical student will be like nothing else you’ve ever felt.
So, what do we conclude?
NEET preparation is tough, and yes, you’re sacrificing a lot right now. But everything that is awaiting you in MBBS will more than make up for it. You’re working hard now so you can enjoy the journey ahead, filled with new experiences, friends, and unforgettable moments.
So hang in there, future doctor. The reward is near, and it’s going to be worth every little of effort you’re putting in today.
