If you want to become a doctor, you need to prepare for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
While studying for the NEET, it is important to be mentally and physically ready for the test.
Setting exam-like settings at home can help you manage stress, improve time management, and improve your confidence on test day.
It can help you overcome any type of difficulties during the exam, COVID or not.
My teachers always said, “Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.” In this blog article, we will give you some (borderline ridiculous yet helpful) tips on how to practice mock tests at home for NEET 2024.

Advice for when You are Practicing questions
Self-Assessment and Feedback
Evaluate your performance critically after each test. Identify your own strengths and weaknesses.
Focus on strengthening your weak points and tracking your improvement over time.
Manage Your Stress.
Exam anxiety is common, but it is manageable to a large extent. To calm your nerves, use relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or yoga. Developing a positive outlook is essential for doing well on the NEET exam.
Distractions should be avoided.
While studying and performing mock examinations, turn off your phone and other technological gadgets. Distractions can divert your attention and impair your ability to accurately mimic test settings.
Set Up a Dedicated Study Space
Make a specialized study area that matches the exam center’s setting. Check that it is peaceful, well-lit, and free of distractions. Arrange your study resources, such as textbooks, notes, and a laptop ( if need be) in this room carefully. Long study periods require a comfortable chair and workplace.
Practice Time Management
Set a study timetable that corresponds to the NEET test timing to practice time management. Divide your study time into equal pieces, with intervals in between to reset to match the test’s structure (you do have time in the exam to take a breather once in a while, believe me.)
This will help you get used to responding to questions within the time limit.
Practice with Previous Year’s Papers
Previous years’ NEET test papers are useful tools for preparation. Solve them in a timed situation to simulate the real test environment. Analyze your performance and identify areas for improvement.
Use Offline Mock Tests
Offline mock exams are great for simulating the NEET experience. Many websites and coaching schools provide practice examinations that are quite similar to the NEET format. Taking these exams regularly will help you get comfortable with OMR Based Testing and improve your speed and accuracy.
Maintain Silence
During your question practice sessions, maintain a strict silence policy in your study area. This will help you concentrate better and get accustomed to the quiet environment of the exam hall. Tell your parents and siblings to not disturb you.
Unconventional Advice for Practicing NEET Mock Tests 2024
PS: This is unconventional advice but trust me, it works. You can start practicing in these conditions once you are 6 months away from your NEET exam- say around December – January.
To win the war, you must be prepared for the conditions on the battlefield. Do you want to know how to create exam-like circumstances for a mock test?
You may think these situations are very uncomfortable, but you can’t change them. It all depends on the sort of exam center assigned to you. And what are you going to do if it’s an old, decaying school with broken fans in the sweltering heat of May?
You may believe you can handle it on the day of the exam, but let’s be honest: it can reduce your performance by at least 30% (in the best-case scenario).
It’s a good idea to prepare under these settings for certain mock examinations during the next two years, but as the exam draws closer, practice under these conditions for all tests.
It may seem uncomfortable at first, but you’ll thank me later for maybe saving your exam and rank. Here’s some extreme, seemingly ridiculous, yet pertinent and important advice from a negative experience
Remove the fan and the AC
Remove the fan and the air conditioner. Do your examinations take place in air conditioning? Turn off the air conditioner and change the fan speed. Reduce the speed to the lowest setting or turn it off completely.
NEET comes in May, and what are you going to do if you become acclimated to AC during practice and then have a non-functioning fan on test day?
Prepare your body and mind for potential heat. (Don’t even attempt to be smart and use a cooler!) Continue reading to find out how to practice NEET mock tests.
Use the worst pen you can find.
They may give you a cheap pen that is small, slippery, and difficult to hold, which could lead to bubbling mistakes. Purchase a similar pen and practice with it using a ball pen (as I usually say, “get your ball pens out”).
Distract yourself
Your center may be near a construction site, or a noisy generator may be operating as a result of a power outage. The biggest source of distraction is noise.
To acclimate your brain, try playing some background noise while practicing.
Ask your parents to distract you
I usually recommend practicing alone, away from distractions. However, for the “EXAM-LIKE MOCK TEST,” ask your parents to distract you a few times.
Why? To mimic the invigilator.
This individual may stop you several times during the test, justifying their actions by stating things such as, “You haven’t signed in 10 different places yet.”
We all hate this interruption, yet it is unavoidable. As a result, get used to it. If your parents are unavailable, consult your siblings. They might do it for free (or, in my case, for a little cost).
Hold it in
Train your body to go without using the toilet for at least 3.20 hours while remaining hydrated (to combat the heat). It is doable if you push your body a little harder.
Although this is not the best medical advice, it is a reality for NEET exam participants. Either practice or lose 10-15 minutes on exam day. And in most cases, they do not allow you to leave the room.
Avoid your mid-day nap
Do not sleep from 1 pm to 5.20 pm. If your brain is habitually sleeping during this period, it will not suddenly awaken on exam day. As a result, avoid or break this behavior.
Conclusion
Simulating exam-like environments at home for NEET is an important element of your preparation process. You may imitate the actual exam experience and enhance your confidence by setting a concentrated study atmosphere, managing your time properly, preparing with mock examinations, and being disciplined. Remember that constant practice and dedication are the keys to NEET success. Good luck with your planning! Like our unconventional How to Practice Mock Tests for NEET advice? Please leave a comment.
