Mode of NEET Examination
NEET (UG) 2023 is a pen-and-paper-based test.
Answers should be marked on the specially designed machine-gradable OMR sheet using the Ballpoint pen provided at the centre. Tampering with the OMR at any stage will result in the candidate being barred for 3 years. (So, no cheating!) (Read: how to practice mock tests at home)
Types of Exam Booklets in the NEET Exam
Candidates choosing English, Hindi, and Languages will receive a Test Booklet in English, Hindi, and the selected Regional Language. For instance, if a candidate chooses Tamil, the Test Booklet will be in English, Hindi, and Tamil. However, this can be a bit time-consuming and distracting, so time management is crucial.
If you choose Hindi, you will receive a booklet in English and Hindi. Some candidates choose this option thinking that if they do not understand a word in English, they can refer to the Hindi translation. However, this scenario is rare, and most candidates end up reading mostly in English.
Important: In case of any ambiguity in the translation of a question, the English version will be considered final, and NTA’s decision on this will be final. If there is an error in the Tamil or Hindi version of a question, quickly refer to the English version and answer based on that.
Candidates qualifying for NEET (UG) – 2023 will be eligible for All India Quota and other state government/institute quotas, regardless of the examination medium, provided they meet other eligibility criteria. No matter which language you take the exam in, you will get the same college options as your “English-speaking peers.” There is a guarantee of no discrimination. 🙂
What if a question is wrong in NEET exam?
If a question has more than one correct option, then +4 marks will be awarded to those who have marked any of the correct choices. However, it is usually the case that the “better of the two choices” rule applies, and the correct or only one better option is based entirely on the NTA ANSWER KEY.
Therefore, mark only the choice that seems best to you. If you are right, you are lucky. If more than two options are correct and you receive bonus marks, then you are very lucky. Although, this has rarely happened in the last 10 years.
If all options for a question are deemed correct, then +4 marks will be awarded to everyone who attempted the question. However, do not be misled by the idea that “if all options are correct, it’s a bonus question.” NTA rarely makes such mistakes. There have been no bonus questions in the last 5 years.
If a question is found to be incorrect or is dropped (which is very rare, so only attempt a question is wrong if you are 100% sure, otherwise you risk losing a mark for being overconfident), +4 marks will be awarded to everyone who attempted the question. This could be due to human or technical errors.
Candidates are advised to perform calculations using the constant values provided in the questions, if any. For eg if g= 9.8 m/s^2 then use 9.8 only not g=10.
