‘NEET mushkil hota hai kya?’ ‘NEET 2024 kitna difficult hoga?’ yeh questions sabhi aspirants ke dimaag mai aate hai. Jab mujhe pata chala tha ki NEET naam ki exam dekar hi medical seat milti hai toh maine bhi sabse pehle yehi google kiya tha.
Toh chalo pata karte hai NEET ‘difficult’ ya ‘hard’ hai ya nahi.
What is easy/difficult in NEET?
I think difficulty level assess karne ke liye hum ek parameter use kar sakte hai: ‘How much of the paper can be solved by studying the NCERT books alone’. Biology ke case mai yeh level hamesha 90-95% hi rehta hai. Physics, chemistry levels keeps varying. But humne analyse karke dekha ki last 5 years mai, this level has NEVER dipped below 70-80% even for Physics and Chemistry.
That too, if you understand all the concepts in NCERT, and hum concept-based questions bhi include karle humare assessment mai, toh we can say ki yeh level hamesha 90% ke upar hi raha hai. To understand what I mean by concepts, click here.
See, difficulty ka matlab hai strangeness or unfamiliarity of the question. The questions that you’ve not seen/solved will scare you. Agar koi question pehli baar dekh rahe ho toh voh difficult lagega hi na.
Iska matlab hai ki NCERT se seedha joh questions aa rahe hai voh tumhe easy lagege. And jo questions NCERT ki knowledge ke basis pe solve nahi ho paa rahe ho voh tumhe difficult lagege. (Assuming that you study from the NCERT books)
Post-2021: A Game-Changer:
2020 mai hua tha ek major change, AIIMS and NEET merge hue the. So abhi AIIMS ki koi alag entrance nahi hai, AIIMS mai bhi admission NEET ke through hi milta hai. Iss change ke baad 2021 mai hua pattern change, paper ke total questions badha diye gaye (time bhi badhakar 3 hours 20 minutes kardiya gaya tha).
2020 ka pape aisa pehla paper tha jaha kisi student ne 720/720 score kiya tha. Paper bhi kaafi easy hi tha.
2021 was a moderate difficulty level paper. Overall paper bhi kaafi lengthy tha and physics ke sawal kaafi mushkil bhi the. Maine bhi NEET 2021 mai hi diya tha and I remember seeing some students crying outside the center kyuki vo paper mai time mai complete nahi kar paaye the.
2021 ke baad 2022 aur 2023 mai ek kaafi similar trend raha hai- very easy NCERT based papers.
Agar papers NCERT se and easy aarahe hai, toh difficulty ki kya baat?:
I don’t think it is the actual paper that is ‘difficult’ per se, it is the cutthroat competition. Last year kul milakar 20 LAKH STUDENTS NE NEET KE LIYE APPEAR KIYA HAI. 20 LAKH. Samajh rahe ho kitna hota hai?
Tumhare class mein 40 students hoge, aise hi tumhare coaching mein 500 bachche honge. Ab socho, aisi 4000 coaching classes milaakar 20 lakh students bante hain. Itne logo ne NEET diya tha. Asli difficulty yeh andhadhun competition hai, asli difficulty accuracy hai, perfection hai.
At this point, tumhari understanding se zyada, tumhara presence of mind, time management, and accuracy check horaha hai.
If I want to do better, should I study more?
This is where most of us aspirants go wrong. Hume lagta hai ‘paper difficult hai’ yani ke voh log kuch aisa puch lege jo humne suna bhi nahi hoga ya jo shayad syllabus mai bhi na ho. Toh hum nikal jaate hai duniya bhar ki information batorne, aur jo kaam ki cheez hai vahi yaad nahi rehti.
We need to remember ki itne competition mai smartly padhne ki kaafi zarurat hai, isliye it is very essential to stick to NCERTs, Jo paper mai aata hai usse hi padhna hai, din raat padhna hai. Itna padhna hai ke agar saalo baad bhi koi ek shabd bole toh sab muh-zabaanni yaad ho.
Sabse pehle NCERT padni hai, jab NCERT complete hojaye tab NCERT revise karni hai. NCERT ache se yaad hojaye fir hi dusre resources ki taraf dekhna hai.
Okay, so it’s easy then right?
I never said and will never say that the NEET journey is easy. Mujhe lagta hai ki yeh duniya ki sabse mushkil journeys mai se ek hai. NEET ke waqt jitna aap stress jhelte hai voh itna ganda hota hai ki aapko khokla kar deta hai. Inn 2 saalo mai kaafi kuch test hota hai- humara patience test hota hai, humara optimism- har problem mai, har failure mai ‘hojayega, hojayega’ bolte rehne ki takat, sab distractions se khudko bachaye rakhkar focus kar paane ka junoon and sabse zyada important- humara time management.
Subject ki understanding toh zaroori hai hi, par yeh sab aana equally important hai.
Also just because hume material pata hai iska matlab yeh nahi ki voh memorised bhi hai. Itne material ko by-heart memorise kar paana bhi aasan nahi.
‘Is it worth it then?’
Yeh sab kuch, sab efforts, sab stress, sab all nighters, sab kuch 100% worth it hai. Take it from someone who didn’t want to even become a doctor, aaj jab OPD mai apna coat pehenke jaati hu aur log itni respect se dekhte hena, bas lagta hai sau baar aur NEET wala stress jhel lugi agar yeh result milna ho toh. Jab pediatrics mai koi bacha doctor samajhke ‘Doctor did, doctor didi’ bolta hai ya jab case lene ke dauraan koi patient se one-to-one interaction hota hai, itni khushi milti hai, itna garv hota hai khudpe, sab worth it lagta hai.

Toh bass kehna itna hi hai ki har aspect se yeh NEET ki exam ‘difficult’ zaroor hai par aasan kaam karne mai hume maza bhi kaha aata hai?
